Guide Extension Catheter

It was designed to enable deep seating inside coronary arteries to provide extra support for equipment delivery during complex coronary interventions such as calcified vessels, tortuous arteries, and distal lesions. There are various guide extension catheters available in the market. Please review device library.

Guide extension catheter can be used as following:

  • Provide coaxial alignment and additional backup support, facilitate distal device delivery, and selective injection of contrast
  • To perform thrombectomy
  • To facilitate retrieval of entrapped equipment
  • CTO interventions

TrapLiner Catheter (Teleflex)

It is one of guide extension catheters with the ability to trap a 0.014 guide wire against the inner wall of a guide catheter to facilitate the exchange of an interventional device while maintaining the position of a guidewire within the vasculature.

Swiftninja Steerable Microcatheter (Merit Medical)

  • A straight tip catheter that articulates up to 180 degrees in opposing directions to facilitate for challenging side branch wiring and intervention
  • Once the tip is positioned at desired location, it can be ‘locked’ to hold the shape in that position
